☀️ Beaches Turks & Caicos mini review & tips 🌴

I’m going to do another post with tips on dining as well as the extra add-on activities that we did!

* Download the beaches app before you go to have all the daily activities easily accessible.
* There are free kids clubs, including one each for babies, toddlers, younger kids, and then tweens and teens where you can drop off your kids throughout your stay. There’s also daily & nightly activities such as karaoke and pool games and workout classes so there’s really something for everyone, not just little kids. The only downside for us was that the age groups went from 2 to 4 years and then 5 to 11 so mine would have had to be split if we dropped them off unfortunately. They also have nannies you can hire for a dinner out or during the daytime if you prefer.
* There’s tennis, basketball, mini golf, Pickleball, croquet, ping-pong, giant connect four & chess, and tons of other things scattered throughout the property. Most have the equipment right there which is really convenient. The only exception was basketball and mini golf equipment which you could get at the activity hut on Caribbean Village.
* There’s a Sesame Street show at 6:30 every night right next to the French Village. On Fridays, there is a parade instead and a great location to stand for it is along the path from the Caribbean Village to the Italian Village. Afterwards is a street party and BBQ.
* The French Village pool is very low-key with light music, swim up bar and not overcrowded. It also had a great baby splash area and zero entry area for toddlers. If you’re looking for more of a party atmosphere at the pool, definitely go to the Italian village pool or one of the Caribbean village pools.
* There’s a little train that runs through the villages each day which was super cute.
* The French Village location is also right next to the waterpark. There’s something for everyone at the waterpark with multiple splash pads and slides of various sizes, including tube slides. My favorite was floating the lazy river with Sienna snuggling on me and holding onto Luca‘s tube 🥰

Stay tuned for part 2 soon! ✈️

5 Reasons You Have to Visit Indonesia

August 12, 2019

Top 5 Reasons You Have To Visit Indonesia

Let’s face it, the world is a BIG place. There’s simply not enough time to go everywhere or see everything…sadly. So when you’re deciding between all the places on your bucket list that you want to go, it can be tough to choose! I’d like to live in a world where we vacation all year and then have 2-3 weeks of work rather than the other way around lol! Anyone else want to petition for this with me?

Marc & I went to Indonesia for our honeymoon last year, which was a dream of mine for a long time. I won’t lie, I had to convince him a bit. At first he was like, “Indonesia?? Why??” lol. He was totally against it. So I shared a lot about it with him, finally convinced him, and he LOVED it there. So did I of course 🙂 It is such a magical place. So below are my top 5 reasons why you have to visit Indonesia.

Feel free to leave any Indonesia questions in the comments below! Happy travels!

I’ll keep this one short & sweet because really the pictures speak for themselves on how stunning Indonesia is. Everywhere you look it’s beautiful. From the buildings and temples to the rice paddies, volcanoes, beaches, waterfalls and more…you will be in awe of your surroundings. I’m pretty sure no one ever said they don’t love visiting beautiful places lol. And coming from someone who has been fortunate enough to travel to many, many beautiful places, take it from me, Indonesia is one you don’t want to miss.

Don’t need to say much about this one, but I’m pretty sure Indonesia takes the cake for infinity pools. It’s pretty much a requirement for hotels and villas in the country and you will even find that most of the airbnbs have private or shared infinity pools.

Whether you already know you love infinity pools or you’ve never experienced one, you NEED to visit the infinity pools in Indonesia. Imagine perching yourself on the side of an infinity pool overlooking the jungle as the sun rises or sets…tropical drink in hand is optional 😉

No matter where you are coming from to visit Indonesia, it is highly likely that your currency will stretch really far there. On top of that, it’s very affordable to travel in Indonesia as well! You can find good lodging at all price points, so if you aren’t looking for a luxurious trip, you definitely don’t have to worry about breaking the bank or risk staying really far away or in a shady location.

On top of that, it’s super cheap to eat & to get around. If you aren’t going to high end restaurants or eating at a resort, you can easily get a meal for $15 or less for any meal of the day {not including alcohol, but that’s pretty cheap too!}

And catching a taxi or rideshare is almost unbelievably cheap too. Their local rideshare is Grab and we found our drivers to be very nice and friendly through this app. For example, we took a Grab from Seminyak to Jimbaran {both on Bali} and there was tons of traffic when we left so it took over an hour and our cost was only around 7 USD. Tipping is also not huge in Indonesia, so for taxis they recommend rounding up to the closest Rupiah, which is really less than pennies! We of course tipped on this trip because we felt like $7 just wasn’t appropriate for our driver’s time, but just to give you an example of how cheap it is!

In some areas you can even get a Tuk Tuk ride which is even cheaper & you can haggle the price! Obviously it takes a little longer, but the experience is so worth it!

Top 5 Reasons You Have To Visit Indonesia

Indonesia is made up of over 17,000 islands! Amazing right? So it goes without saying that there is a lot of variety in landscape around the country. There are beaches {of course lol}, volcanos, jungles, urban areas, farmland, temples, you name it!

On top of the varied landscape, there is soo much to do for anyone and everyone. You can shop {both higher end fashion & artwork plus souvenir/tourist spots}, spend the entire day on the beach or poolside relaxing, take part in water sports like kayaking, paddleboarding, scuba diving & more, hike to your hearts content, take yourself on a culinary exploration trying all different cuisines, take a tour or visit some of the thousands of Hindu & Buddhist temples around the country…you get the idea, there is A LOT!

This is perfect if you, like my husband and I, are traveling with someone who prefers a very different type of vacation than you. I love adventure and activity & Marc loves to relax by the pool or beach, so it was a great balance for us!

And last, but not least, the people of Indonesia are super friendly & hospitable. It truly is a country where tourism is at the forefront of their economy, so they are a service-oriented people that really aim to please and take a lot of pride in their services and country.

Now note, service in Indonesia is slower than in the US {as it is pretty much everywhere lol} so just keep that in mind. It is not them not doing a good job, it’s simply the culture, and in reality, many times it means they are taking more time to do a better job!

For me, when I visit a place that makes me feel so welcome and like they are so happy that I am there visiting, it makes my trip just that much better. I have visited places where this was not the case, and I felt very uncomfortable on those trips, which really put a damper on my vacations. You will not find that in Indonesia though, the people are wonderful!
