The Alida Hotel Savannah Review

We just returned from an amazing getaway to Savannah, and I wanted to share a full The Alida Hotel Savannah review. Overall, we loved our stay. The staff was wonderful throughout the hotel and on-site restaurants, so friendly and helpful. The Alida Hotel is beautifully decorated with so many inviting areas to relax throughout your stay. The main floor includes the Trade Room bar and lounge, access to the pool and fire pit, a large gym with Peloton bike, and a number of cozy sitting areas. There is also a nice area to set up a desk for the day if you are on business and a friendly Concierge. Lastly, there are bike rentals {which I so wish we could have enjoyed if we didn’t have our little one with us} and an adorable gift shop area.

Possibly one of the best things about The Alida Hotel Savannah is the location! Situated just behind the JW Marriott, The Alida is steps from the riverfront and tons of other restaurants and shops. If you go out the front door, you have easy access to Bay Street, which takes you to City Market, Broughton Street and all of the squares and historical sites to see. You can exit through Rhett on the lower level {or take the stairs or elevator right outside the front door} to get to River Street and the riverfront. We did not rent a car during our stay in Savannah because we really didn’t feel we needed one at all. However, if you did want to rent a car for a drive to Tybee Island or any further sites, there is valet on-site and parking options available.

River Street has numerous restaurants and little shops. The JW Marriott also has a number of restaurants and shops to explore just next door to The Alida Hotel. I have a roundup of dining recommendations & things to do in Savannah here! It was so nice to be able to just walk outside and walk along the water each day. I personally really liked that there wasn’t a lot of hustle and bustle {aka noise!} right outside the hotel as many of the hotels set back from the riverfront have. When traveling with a toddler especially, not having trucks and cars drive by your window all night is a big plus lol!

My The Alida Hotel Savannah review wouldn’t be complete without a review of our room. During our stay at The Alida Hotel Savannah, we stayed in one of the Harper Suites. We had wanted a room with a separate sleeping space so that Luca could nap more easily, and we could relax a little while he slept! The Harper Suite is nice and spacious, with gorgeous large windows for lots of light. In the living room area there is a pullout couch, chaise, TV, mini fridge, lots of counter space, and a little table by the window perfect for working or enjoying a cup of coffee with a view. The bathroom includes a spacious shower with separate vanity area and area for the toilet with a door. The bedroom has a King bed, blackout drapes, TV and a mini wardrobe. A steamer and hair dryer are also provided.

We truly loved the look and feel of the room. However, for traveling with a toddler who wants to run around, it may not have been the most ideal space lol. There were a couple downsides of our particular suite for traveling with a child. **I’d like to note that I don’t think any of these downsides in my The Alida Hotel Savannah Review are out of the ordinary for traveling with a little one though.**

The bathroom is only off of the bedroom, with no way to access it from the living room area. This would have been helpful while our son was sleeping or napping. There is also no sink in the main living area, which was surprising given the large counter space. For washing bottles, etc. this would have been nice to have. The wine fridge included in the room isn’t really a full fridge that gets cold enough for milk etc. However, The Alida Hotel staff was very accommodating bringing us a true mini fridge almost instantly after we inquired. They also were happy to warm up food for us in their microwave downstairs when we had leftovers for Luca’s breakfast or dinner which was very helpful!

The Harper Suite that we stayed in also only had a large shower, no tub, so for bathing a little one, it makes it a little more difficult. I believe the non-suite rooms have tubs though. I recommend calling in advance of booking if this is something that is important to you so that you book the best room for your needs!

Also, we had packed an inflatable toddler bed for our son, who is very large for his 15 months. Sadly though, there wasn’t enough space in the bedroom for the inflatable bed. We ended up borrowing the pack and play crib from the hotel, which worked out fine. We could have saved some space in our luggage though lol! There was plenty of space in the living room area for the inflatable toddler bed and also blackout drapes. However, then we wouldn’t have been able to leave our room to get takeout or anything else while he was sleeping, so we felt it was best to have our son sleep in the bedroom.

I do wish that the room had a full length mirror. There is ample wall space in the living room area so I was kind of surprised there wasn’t one. The mirror in the bathroom is large so works as a backup, but not quite full length. Otherwise though, the rooms are nice and serene, especially if you aren’t traveling with a toddler

A couple other points to note about the hotel that I wanted to include in my The Alida Hotel Savannah review. There are “hydration stations” on each floor with sparkling and still water and whole fruit. They provide you with complimentary water bottles upon arrival for you to fill up daily. This is such a helpful amenity for travelers who usually have to buy expensive waters while traveling! The main restaurant, Rhett, also has complimentary coffee, tea, snack bars and whole fruit every morning. This was wonderful for some caffeine to start the day and whole fruit to take with us for Luca. The pool area is so inviting with plenty of chairs, umbrellas and relaxing cabanas available. They even have corn hole and a large connect four game to play.

We dined at two of the on-site restaurants, Rhett and The Lost Square. Rhett is great for breakfast, lunch, dinner or takeout. There are a few outdoor tables and ample indoor seating. During our December stay at The Alida Hotel, which was off-season of course, we never experienced a wait at the restaurants. We were thankful for the children’s menu at Rhett as well. Luca loved the grilled cheese for dinner and crushed the pancakes for breakfast lol.

The Lost Square at The Alida Hotel is a rooftop restaurant with drinks and light fare. The vibe of this rooftop lounge is amazing. I wish they opened before 4pm so we could have enjoyed the space longer! I believe they may have extended hours in-season though. The menu is very limited, but really it’s a must to go for the views, the vibe, and a nice drink. For the winter season, they have igloos set up to dine in, which is a really neat experience. There is a food and beverage minimum for the igloos and reservations are recommended.

Our stay at The Alida Hotel Savannah was definitely a memorable one for all the right reasons. I feel like The Alida Hotel is a great place to stay for couples, girls or guys trips, business travel and families as well. We would not hesitate to stay at The Alida again {even with a toddler or two in tow lol}. I am so grateful for the hospitality shown to us during our stay. Everyone was so friendly to us and Luca, and you really can’t overvalue how a place makes you feel!
